Painting: View of Vetheuil
Artist: Claude Monet
Medium: Oil on Canvas
Size: 31.5×23.75″
Year: 1880
At the time Monet painted this scene of a poppy-filled field, he was living in the market town of Vetheuil. He laughed when a reporter asked to see his studio. “I don’t understand why anybody would want to shut themselves up in some room(in order to paint),” he said. He gestured to the hills and town, “That’s my studio!”
